Status checked and corrected on 11 October 2026: Rail Wheel Factory Recruitment 2026 refers here to notification RWF/AT-16/627(2025–26), dated 28 February 2026, for 192 Act Apprentice training slots. Its stated application deadline was 1 April 2026 at 17:00 and has passed. This article is a record of that cycle, not an announcement that applications are currently open.
RWF Act Apprentice 2025–26: overview

| Training slots | 192 across seven designated trades; tentative |
| Application route | Offline, prescribed Annexure-A |

These are apprenticeship training slots under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The notification expressly states that Railways is not obliged to offer employment after training. Apprenticeship does not establish a claim to a permanent railway job.
Trade and category breakdown
| Trade | Slots |
|---|---|
| Fitter | 85 |
| Machinist | 31 |
| Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) | 8 |
| Turner | 5 |
| CNC Programming-cum-Operator (COE Group) | 23 |
| Electrician | 18 |
| Electronic Mechanic | 22 |
| Total | 192 |
The vertical category totals in the official table are UR 98, OBC 51, SC 29 and ST 14. The 8 PwBD and 6 Ex-Servicemen slots are included within the total, not extra vacancies. The earlier category figures in this article were incorrect and have been replaced.
Age and educational eligibility
As at 1 March 2026, a candidate needed to have completed 15 years and not completed 24 years. The notification provides upper-age relaxation of five years for SC/ST and three years for OBC, subject to its certificate requirements. Other applicable reservation provisions must be checked in the complete notice.
Applicants needed Class 10 or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board and a National Trade Certificate in the relevant designated trade issued by NCVT. Merely completing a course is not enough. Engineering graduates and diploma holders are expressly not eligible under this notice because their apprenticeship is governed by a separate scheme.
Employment Exchange registration
Valid, current registration with a local Employment Exchange was a stated eligibility condition. Preference was given to candidates registered in Karnataka; candidates registered in their own states elsewhere could be considered subject to unfilled slots. Wards of serving railway employees were covered by a specified exception, with applications routed through the parent’s office and the prescribed certificate. The earlier broad statement that anyone across India could apply omitted these conditions.
Training duration and stipend
Training in Fitter, Machinist, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Turner, Electrician and Electronic Mechanic was one year, with a stated monthly stipend of ₹12,261. CNC Programming-cum-Operator (COE Group) training was six months, with a stated stipend of ₹10,899 per month. The notice makes stipend subject to rules amended from time to time; these are its stated amounts, not a current permanent-job salary.
Fee and historical application route
The processing fee was ₹100 through an Indian Postal Order or a demand draft from a nationalised bank, payable to Principal Financial Adviser/Rail Wheel Factory. SC/ST, physically handicapped and women candidates were exempt as stated in the notice. This is the fee for that closed cycle.
Applications in Annexure-A, with self-attested supporting certificates and the fee instrument where applicable, had to reach the Senior Personnel Officer-II, Personnel Department, Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, Bangalore–560064 before the deadline. The notice allowed registered post or the designated drop box. Its annexures specify the application format, caste certificates, railway-employee ward certificate and medical certificate. Do not send a fresh application based on this historical article.
Selection process
Merit was based on the aggregate percentage of Class 10/equivalent marks across all subjects, not an average of Class 10 and ITI marks. The trade certificate remained mandatory eligibility. For equal marks, the older candidate received preference; if dates of birth were also equal, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier received preference. Original-document verification and the prescribed medical fitness certificate were required.
The notice gave a probable merit-list display time of 45 days from closing and a tentative training start 15 days after the merit list. Those projections do not prove that a result was actually released. Check RWF’s official notices for the published result or any amendment.
